At Colonial Vista Senior Living, wellness isn’t just about working out — it’s about creating joy, building strength, and helping residents thrive in ways they never imagined. At the heart of that mission is Rebekah Osborn, Wellness Director.
A Life Rooted in Senior Living
For Rebekah, wellness is more than a career — it’s a calling. Raised by a mother who was both a nurse and an Activities Director, Rebekah grew up seeing the meaningful work and vibrant lifestyle in senior living communities. As a child, she would participate in her mother’s classes and even help teach. That early experience gave her a rare understanding of the emotional and physical needs of older adults.
Her love of movement began in gymnastics, where she trained as a competitive athlete and later became a certified USA Gymnastics coach. That drive to move with purpose followed her into adulthood, shaping the holistic approach she now brings to Colonial Vista Senior Living’s wellness programming.
Rebekah is also a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a credential that enhances her ability to support residents from a clinical perspective. While not a required certification for her role, she believes her medical knowledge plays a key role in delivering safe, tailored, and effective wellness strategies for each resident.
SAIL Program: Keeping Residents Strong, Independent, and Engaged
Rebekah is a certified SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) instructor — a program designed specifically to improve strength, balance, and mobility in older adults. These one-hour classes blend cardio, balance work, strength training, and cool-down stretches. Each session is adaptable for seated or standing participants.
The results are powerful.
“I want people to know that residents can find just as much joy and fulfillment in working out as they do in other activities,” says Rebekah. “Even those who think exercise is hard often finish the class feeling happy and energized — sometimes they don’t even realize they were exercising at all.”
In Washington state, where fall rates are 27% higher than the national average, the relevance of programs like SAIL can’t be overstated. Rebekah’s mission of keeping residents safe, confident, and in motion aligns perfectly with that need.
The SAIL classes are currently offered twice a week at Colonial Vista Senior Living, but Rebekah is aiming towards 3-4 classes a week soon. Best of all, these classes are free and open to the public, making it easier for more older adults in the community to stay active and independent.

Individual Support That Meets Residents Where They Are
In addition to group classes, Rebekah offers personalized services that give residents even more control over their wellness journey.
Residents can schedule a free consultation with Rebekah to discuss their physical abilities, preferences, and wellness goals. Based on the consultation, she recommends specific classes that align with their needs — ensuring every resident can participate with confidence.
For more customized support, residents can book private 1-on-1 sessions with Rebekah. These 30-minute appointments are individually tailored and can take place in the resident’s apartment, the Fitness Room, the Vista Center, or the Assisted Living Day Room.
Rebekah also offers free Senior Fitness Tests — a 20-30 minute evidence-based assessment designed for older adults. These tests measure strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance, providing valuable insight into a resident’s current fitness level. Not only do they help track progress over time, but they also support fall prevention and long-term independence.
A Mission That Moves People
What truly sets Rebekah apart is her belief in the emotional power of wellness. Her classes aren’t about checking off exercise boxes — they’re about creating moments of joy, connection, and confidence.
“My goal is simple: to keep them moving, keep them smiling, and help them grow stronger — often without even realizing they’re exercising. That’s the magic: Joy in Motion, Strength in Disguise.”
With leaders like Rebekah Osborn guiding the way, Colonial Vista Senior Living’s wellness program isn’t just helping residents stay active — it’s helping them rediscover what’s possible.
